To use, simply place the bottle of lube in hot water (or another warm location) until the butter completely melts and becomes liquid. The chain should be clean, dry, and warm. If the chain is cold, use a hair dryer to warm it before applying the lube. Shake well, and while backpedaling the crank, apply the lube liberally to the inside of the lower chain. Once coated, continue backpedaling, running the chain between your fingers to evenly distribute the Butter. Allow the chain to rest until the Butter hardens.

Using a clean, dry cloth, wipe any excess lube from the chain, chainring, cassette, and derailleur. It's normal for some hardened Chain Butter to flake off as you ride, as it's 100% bio-based and safe for the environment.
